Forgot to mention I'm gonna be at WIZARD WORLD CHICAGO this weekend in the artist alley along with groovy peeps from Drunk Duck and Platinum Studios. We are at tables 5900 - 5908. Hope to see some of you there!
[/EDIT]
I've been working SCD for three years. Almost four. I've been working on this rant for the last week. Unfortunately with my memory issues (paired with my ADD) I've had it erased in my head more times than I probably realize. Like I said in the previous rant, I feel relieved about this restart's end but also quite somber. I'm a person of 'what if's' and that's probably a huge character flaw on my part. What if the world hadn't blown up? Where would I be now? How much better would be it?
Artistically, I think the wait was worth it. I'm looking at the pages I'm drawing in Chapter 7 and I feel at peace with them. I feel I've made incredible progress. I'm still not as fast as I want to be but I think my ability as a storyteller has definitely developed. That makes me feel proud and glad that I did what I did instead of forcing this next chapter out.
We still have about eight pages to go to catch up to where we were when we left off and I shut the site down last year. I've made several changes to the older Book 2 pages to get them to blend a little better with the newer ones. I truly hope you'll be pleased with Chapter 6 and the final resolution of this particular story arc.
So I'm glad I did what I did. This is not the rant I had planned. I planned to look back at all that tore this site down. But why the hell would I do that? Why not look forward? Things may not be the same but things are fucking there and that's something.
Thank you to everyone who donated during the restart. You've helped keep the site on its feet with hosting, domain registration and you've helped me through my software crisis. You guys rock my socks.
Thanks to everyone who has sent emails, cheerleaded, came to a con or posted the little buttons I made on your site. You guys are my world.
I'm glad you are all here with me. Let's continue you to kick ass. See you Tuesday.

Pasted from previous rant:
If you like, you can get a copy of SCD Volume 1 in print through the store and help support the possibility of seeing Volume 2 in print. I'd like to. Really really would. So if you can, the book is super sweet.
I'm gonna work on fixing the site, ie updating the fanart section, finishing the archive through Book 1's entirety, etc. If I miss your fanart or your name is wrong, please just email me. I've moved around a lot computer-wise so I probably have a lot mixed up. (to keep up with this check out the SCD Twitter!)
I'm throwing up some new link buttons if you'd like to help me spread the word about the comic and Volume 2 you can. I'd really appreciate anything anyone can do. You can direct link these and link back to either http://starcrossd.net or http://starcrossd.net/comic.html

You can add these to your webpage, your myspace, livejournal. Whatever floats your boat. Thanks to everyone who's helped so far by linking SCD.

Otakon - So, as Juno said, we returned from Otakon a week ago (this morning) and are we glad to be home. Once upon a time I could drive 1000 miles in a day and shrug it off. Now, 7 to 8 hundred miles is about all I can stand, and thats with help. Travel aside, I thought Otakon went quite well. I got to hang out with Xero of the Swordwaltzer, Mr. Mookie of Dominic Deegan and "Have You Had The Bread?!?" I also got to see Ananth and Hawk from Applegeeks when they stopped by to chat with Juno and Mookie and of course I talked it up with Jax who sat next to us from [sic] productions. One of the best parts of con had to be Xero's signs... Xero KNOWS... (you had to be there I guess)...
Fingers - As far as counting on my fingers, please allow me to pass along my recent experience so that you might not find yourself in my shoes. I was making a presentation to my supervisor, his supervisor, and the head of the office concerning a problem on one of my projects. I have been working on this issue for quite a while, and I was lost in covering the details when I came to my two points.
If you see where this is going, be quiet so you don't spoil it for everyone else.
So, I come to my two, very important points, and to illustrate I hold up two fingers (to follow along, raise your left hand and extend your index and middle finger). So, I begin to make my first, very important point, and things are going quite well. Then, I went to make my second point. Yes, I lowered my index finger. Here I am, in a very important meeting that is going oh so well, and I have just flipped my boss, his boss, and the head of the office the finger (a.k.a. the bird). If everyone hadn't started laughing, I probably would have looked for the nearest rock to crawl under to never be heard from again.
The moral of the story, don't count down on your fingers, count up (unless you're just counting to one)...
